Ruh Roh Rastro.....

Yosemite Lodge is all booked up!

Curry Village still has a few rooms available.

Hmmm.......

You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.

Curry Village is not bad.  You can get a room close to the hill or they have tent cabins.

If you are in the Sac area, there is a GTG tomorrow at the Waffle Barn in Charmichael @ 0900.

Not sure if I am who you think I am... but then I am old and have a bad memory, so don't take it personally  :dunno:  :welcome:

BUMP...

Anyone interested in an '09 resurrection of this GTG - even just a day trip?  The Valley folks could meet up with the NorCal peeps in Mariposa in the morning for an early cup of coffee and caravan into the park?  Just brainstorming at this point...ideas, comments, suggestions?

ok we're open for now, but if we are thinking of planning it when there might be potential of snow, then we should play it by ear.   ;D

I would be interested in a day trip, early in the season when there is still some snow around.  I've never been there
to see snow......always in the middle of summer.  One year hiked up to the top of Yosemite Falls.

Question, ScAnSaBr, are you the member that has some photos of the park I have seen posted somewhere?

I do: http://www.pbase.com/scansabr

They are from my company Christmas party at Tenaya last year.  We happened to get there the day of the first significant snow storm of the year....it was absolutely amazing.  It was snowing so hard on the way in that they closed the road except for 4WD or cars with chains.  On the way out of the valley, just past the tunnel,  I had to beg the sherriff to let us go as the road had ben downgraded to chains only.  There were no visible tracks on Hwy 41 after a mile out from the sherriff's outpost but the Av tracked well and we drove at 20-25 MPH with no slipping.  It was a blast - something my wife and I won't soon forget.  This year's party is on the 5-7 th of December - I only hope we're blessed with snow again!

You were in the right place at the right time to get those truly amazing photos.
I had a similar late fall experience on top of a mountain just before a threatening
storm.  Very briefly just before sundown the sun shot under the overcast skies
and bathed the mountains in alpine light for 100 miles or more that I could barely
see all after noon.  Of course, no camera aboard.

I have this beauty set on my desk top.   ;D

Just a reminder...I'd still like to do this.  Unfortunately we'll have to monitor the snow closely and there will not be months of advance notice (if the intention is to get there with significant snow still on the ground).  Should we throw out a tentative date for planning purposes?  March 21 or 28?

The following is from December 6, 2008...

Hey, I'm brave......worst scenario, we caravan into the park through a light snow snow storm that turns into a blizzard, and they close the roads and put up us in this place.
