Thanks for posting this Ro. I have been busy lately with several AVA projects and hope you missed me  . Had to get the Hotel for this one finalized and I am busy building , painting, and sewing for the London Bridge Parade.
Now got to get busy planning the Heldorado event.
Sure hope to see you at the Laughlin GTG and Rik I think you need to get out there too as well as any others.
This is a great event and the hotel rates are great this year too.
Come on gang be there.

I have been to this event. It is great fun.
However, for the last three years I have been trying to get them to change the date for one week later, to coincide with the international fireworks convention/show in Havasu. It is a fantastic show that we do not miss. All other fireworks shows look like kids with sparklers compared to this show. It runs all weekend for four days.
We would be going to the Laughlin event, coming home, then going back to Havasu the next weekend. Too many miles/gas/hotel rooms, etc...
Not to say I'm not going, I'm just sayin'.... We may skip the fireworks show for this year. Not sure 'til it get's closer.

I really hope we can go.  It's something we'd like to do once at least   Glad to see you back Joyce!     Was wonder where you were.

If they moved it out it might be better, but it's still too early to tell   :dunno:

What is the date of the fireworks show ? If you get the info to me maybe me and my mouth   can get it done. As it stands it seems there are only a couple that make it so it has to be tail end of January because it always has been. I am all for change if it makes something better then it is .

I just checked the dates for the annual Winterblast 2009, sponsored by the Western Pyrotecnics Association.
They are starting a week later this year for some reason.
It will start on the 12th and end on the 15th of February. The best shows are on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Well worth the trip for absolute sure.
JMHO, but I think it would help motivate peeps to sign up for the trip. It would be a fantastic climax for the weekend no doubt.

Well I will bring it up and try to push it for the next one. But sadly one person here that tends to call the shots for all is pretty adament it stays in January. I don't understand that one and I am working to change this type of thing but again people have to speak up. I saw the AZ AVs were actually pushing for Feb. this year and one vetoed it so we are going with superbowl weekend. I will get the message out though and numbers mean everything.
Yea here I go again getting into trouble
But I agree I think it would be great.

I've been suggesting it for years. That's why I haven't gone for years. I'd rather go to the fireworks show, but it would be cool to combine it.
Maybe the powers that make the decision has some good reason. Be interesting to know what it is. Hopefully it's not some dumbarse reason like "it's tradition. We do it the same weekend every year", or some silly crap like that.
Good luck with it. Maybe next year if we all still have our AVs.  :dunno:

They sure give plenty of notice.  The date hasn't matter too much to me cause I've always been busy at the first of the year with projects.  I just hope to make one of these events sometime in my lifetime   :woot:

Yup that is the exact reason. Tradition. I am getting tons of that. Now if you see events failing then I say change it and it also seems that many are open to change. Why is it one can call all the shots and demand things stay as is instead of allowing the many to decide ?

It's a control issue. Probably stems from being molested as a child, an overbearing father, or self esteem problems.
